Araceae family. Sri Lanka is the homeland.

An extremely well-liked plant with outstanding decorative qualities among aquarists. Little rosettes of dark olive leaves with a reddish-brown back are gathered together. The plant grows into loose, 10- to 12-cm-tall thickets. The aquarium’s foreground should be where the cryptocoryne is placed. It grows continuously for the entire year.
The aquarium that Cryptocoryne Beckettii prefers is warm. 24 to 28 °C is the ideal maintenance temperature. Although cryptocoryne can be kept at temperatures between 20 and 22 °C, this will cause a significant slowdown in its growth. The ideal range for water hardness is 8 to 16 °. The plant may be vulnerable to cryptocoryne disease in softer water. Water should have a neutral or slightly alkaline active reaction. A sudden change in pH that is more acidic can cause cryptocoryne to reset every leaf. Hard water that is more alkaline generally doesn’t damage plants.
For this cryptocoryne, lighting must be diffused and either moderate or extremely strong. It is best to shade the plant if the light is direct. Taller plants provide sparse shade, which is ideal for Cryptocoryne beckettii’s growth. The LB type of fluorescent lamps should be used in conjunction with incandescent lamps to create artificial lighting. Their strength varies depending on the particular situation and is primarily influenced by the surrounding plants and the density of the aquarium’s planting. It should be 11–12 hours of daylight.
Well-silted and nutrient-rich soil is required. The substrate should be very small pebbles or coarse river sand. It is best to place a lump of clay or a clay-peat mixture beneath the roots of a newly planted plant.
Root cuttings are a simple method of propagating cryptocoryne. Plants that have three to four leaves on them can be divided from their mother.

One can cultivate cryptocoryne in a paludarium. Here, the soil is made up of garden soil combined with peat and sand. Both the air and the water should be between 26 and 30 °C. Under greenhouse conditions, the plant’s appearance changes, and its petioles and leaf blades get shorter. Cryptocoryne blooms in the summer but does not produce seeds when conditions are right. The plant grows substantially more quickly in a paludarium than it does in an aquarium.
